Minnybae Farm House Kirkoswald, Ayrshire taken Sept 1999
The farm were leased by Thomas Cowperthwaite and his wife Elizabeth Wilson the mother of Elizabeth Helen Eaglesham by her marriage to the late Robert Eaglesham. David Eaglesham Couperthwaite, Thomas's nephew, and Elizabeth Helen Eaglesham got married there in December1875. In July 1892 it was the scene of the wedding of Thomas & Elizabeth's daughter Mary Calderwood Couperthwaite & James Guthrie Gibson.
Minnybae Farm was the home of John Neilson in the late 18th century. He was a friend of Robert Burns and married one of Burns’ former girlfriends – Peggy Thompson, to whom Burns dedicated his song “When Westlin’ Winds”.
